Could be a cousin.

According to some records I found online, it looks like he emigrated in 1730 and my line got here in 1741. If this is your Johannes Sebastian Graff (Graves?), there is some interesting info on him here: https://www.lanhamsource.com/getperson.php?personID=I488&tree=T1.

Wish I could be of more help on a connection to the Declaration House Graffs.

ChuckChuck Whitinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17535408831418392506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32294769.post-36880422196698266352021-04-03T09:17:11.844-05:002021-04-03T09:17:11.844-05:00Hi Chuck,

Johannes' son Jacob (sometimes referred to as John Jacob, was born in Berks County in 1746 before the family moved to North Carolina. My father-in-law recently came the information about the Declaration House and feels he may be related to those Graffs. I am trying to verify any connection to the Philadelphia Jacob. His information of his lineage doesn't include any contemporaries of Johannes. Have you ever heard of a Johannes that might have been related to the family of Graffs involved with the Declaration House?
Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
Joel King
Burlington,NC Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18092765571422187864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32294769.post-10559260660490937742020-11-10T07:24:19.062-06:002020-11-10T07:24:19.062-06:00Hi! I have found a few more books online with your grandfather's bookplate since this blog post some 12 years ago. So at least a few in his book collection got away. Hope the bulk of the collection remained intact with family or a library's archives somewhere. Seemed like a pretty impressive collection.Chuck Whitinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17535408831418392506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32294769.post-28112919798171160282020-03-29T21:01:37.283-05:002020-03-29T21:01:37.283-05:00J Wilbur Chapman Goodson was my Grandfather.J Wilbur Chapman Goodson was my Grandfather.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03934945398939376910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32294769.post-34222546857167044602017-03-12T09:53:16.311-05:002017-03-12T09:53:16.311-05:00I recently found out that the columns in the green...I recently found out that the columns in the green space behind the carnegie branch library on Quitman, are actually remains of the original building, which was demolished. At least. it doesn't compare with what I have and what else I have seen online. The annotation on one of the poems looks closer to her writing. Interesting bookplate, too, though the date is curious. Perhaps another Dorothy Parker owned the book and put her middle name in it so as not to mislead anyone who might come across it later. The seller claims it is Dottie's own personal copy of "Sunset Gun" but the signature does not look like her, also it's signed "Dorothy Janice Parker" and I can find no reference - in book or online form - of her having the middle name Janice. So with a little research I believe it was printed in 1898, based on the publisher (Rand McNally) and the inscriptions handwritten inside the book. I found this blog because I googled the name signed by the person whom had written a personal message to someone, it appears that this was a gift in 1899. The signed name I believe is the author you are discussing, Edwin L. Miller A.M. I was wondering if you had any advice on how I could authenticate this and find it's possible value. He was trying to help in keeping their minds occupied by asking them if any of them knew how to fly fish. So, he was showing them how to fly fish. It was, indeed, a very emotional moment and showed his kindness toward these men.Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09614708672080056520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32294769.post-60974803831398542352012-06-06T16:40:27.114-05:002012-06-06T16:40:27.114-05:00Thanks. In their inaugural year (1937), the Beasley football team won five games and lost one. That was good enough for second in their district. In addition to regular season games, they played a couple of exhibition games, beating Victoria 12-8 and Hungerford 32-27. They outscored their opponents that season 279 to 101. The coach and eleven players are named in the yearbook and that's it for the yearbook's football report. The entire squad listed for that 1937 team totaled eleven and probably most, if not all, played both offense and defense when they got in the game. Thanks for reading and commenting.
